Rachel + Jess’s August wedding at River Bottoms Ranch in Midway, Utah, brought together colorful flowers, thoughtful surprises, and so much love. Their personalities showed up throughout the day, from gifts while getting ready to matching Converse on the dance floor.
As a wedding photographer serving Park City and the surrounding Utah mountains, I love when couples make time to enjoy their celebration. Rachel + Jess did exactly that. They shared sweet moments with family, a private first look, and quiet portraits before joining the party.
Getting Ready at River Bottoms Ranch
When I arrived, Creating Life Moments was bringing the day together. My second photographer, Paige Mckenzi, joined me to photograph the details before we headed upstairs.
Rachel spent the morning with her bridesmaids and her mom. They exchanged gifts, popped champagne, and enjoyed those last few moments before getting dressed.
Her first look with her bridesmaids was so sweet. I love watching everyone react when they see their favorite person in her wedding dress.
Her dad had his own moment, too. He turned around as Rachel came down the grand staircase, then opened her gift. They had a little time to take it all in together.
Meanwhile, everyone in Jess’s room was laughing and hanging out. She got dressed in her sharp blue tux and opened a gift from Rachel. Both brides were so ready to see each other.
A First Touch and Private First Look
Rachel + Jess began with a first touch around River Bottoms Ranch’s large windowed doors. They could connect without seeing each other just yet.
Then we got them into place. Jess turned around to see Rachel in her dress, and they finally had their moment together.
I love a private first look. It gives couples time to react, talk, and enjoy each other before the ceremony. For Rachel + Jess, it was a sweet pause before celebrating with their guests.
A Colorful Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in Midway, Utah
Their ceremony took place on the lawn beside the lake. Flowers lined the aisle and framed the spot where they stood.
The color was incredible. Their florist, Lizy Bowden, told me she used locally sourced flowers. That detail made the arrangements feel even more connected to their Utah summer wedding.
One of my favorite moments came from the flower girl. She started with a few handfuls of petals, then decided to tip out the entire basket.
You cannot plan moments like that. They are exactly the kind I love including in a wedding gallery.
Family and friends surrounded Rachel + Jess with so much love. You could feel their excitement throughout the ceremony and into the evening.
Quiet Portraits at River Bottoms Ranch
After the ceremony, first dances, and cake cutting, we stepped into the field near the horses for portraits.
I remember how peaceful it felt. The long green grass gave us a beautiful setting, and Rachel + Jess had space to enjoy being married.
After hours of excitement and greeting guests, a quiet moment together can feel especially good. I love leaving room for that when we plan wedding portraits.
Those few minutes gave them time to take everything in before returning to the celebration.
A River Bottoms Ranch Wedding Reception Full of Energy
The reception brought drinks, treats, a photo booth, and cold sparklers. DJ Jerry kept the music going and the dance floor full.
Rachel + Jess changed into their party outfits and showed off their matching Converse. They were ready to enjoy the rest of the night.
The energy was contagious. I found myself right in the middle of the dance floor, photographing everyone having the best time.
Every vendor helped bring this celebration together. The flowers, planning, catering, and music all added something special.
But what I remember most is how Rachel + Jess enjoyed their day. They made time for family, each other, and a great party with their favorite people.
