A June Bridal Session at La Caille in Sandy, Utah
M + C met me at La Caille on a green June evening for their bridal session before the wedding. We began with a first look, then spent the evening wandering the grounds, spotting the peacocks, and making portraits in the vineyard. It was quiet, sweet, and full of that excitement that comes with knowing the wedding day is almost here.
A first look with room to breathe
I love doing a first look before the wedding day. For M + C, it meant their first time seeing each other dressed for their wedding got its own space. There was no ceremony schedule waiting on us and no crowd to turn toward afterward. They could take in the moment together before we started exploring.
A first look on a separate day does not have to replace the feeling of seeing each other at the ceremony. Those are different moments. One belongs just to the two of you; the other happens with all the people you love there to witness it. If having both sounds right for you, a bridal session gives you that option.
June bridal portraits in the gardens and vineyard
La Caille is such a beautiful place to photograph in early summer. The grounds were lush and green for M + C, and every turn gave us a new place to pause. We moved through the gardens, found the peacocks, and played in the vineyard as the evening went on. The setting gave their photos variety while still feeling like one cohesive, unhurried evening.
The part I loved most was how much time they had to simply be together. We could make the classic portraits they wanted, then leave room for the in-between moments: walking, laughing, and getting comfortable in front of my camera before the wedding.
Why take bridal portraits before your wedding?
By the time M + C’s wedding day arrived, they already had a full gallery of portraits together. That gave everyone peace of mind. We did not have to fit every portrait idea into one busy wedding timeline, and they could focus more of that day on getting married and celebrating with their people.
It is also a lovely chance to try your wedding look ahead of time and see how it feels in photographs. You can keep the wedding day portraits you still want, with the freedom to make those photos around the real pace of the celebration.
If you are considering a bridal session or a first look before your Utah wedding, you do not need to make it complicated. Pick a place you are excited about, leave enough time to enjoy it, and let the evening feel like the two of you. M + C’s session at La Caille was exactly that.
